GOOD MORNING, when i was reading a boock over welding i read that:

3G FOR PIPES, DOES IT IS POSSIBLE THE USE?

EXCUSE FOR MY BAD ENGLISH

Per D1.1; in the case of large diameter pipe (24 inch and over) used for structural applications, the welder qualified 3G on plate would be qualified to weld the vertical, horizontal, and flat portions of a pipe joint that is in the horizontal fixed position.

Best regards - Al

Thank you GTAW, then only for welding in those position.

Correct - only Flat and Vertical [no Horiz on a pipe-to-pipe weld with line horiz]. That is why the 6G test is so popular for welding of pipe and other tubular items.
