Hi, All

I am currently doing FEA codes for 3D beam element. I have difficulty to handle pin-joints issue. If one beam having one/two pin-joints links to another beam, I can't handle this situation. I know in some textbooks, there are some equations to deal with pin-joints but I can't make my program right after I coded the program following the textbook. Is there someone know some open source FEA code to handle 3D beam pin-joint issue?

Thanks

Do you have to write the code yourself for your employment?

To create a pinned joint, you condense the stiffness matrix terms associated with the appropriate d.o.f on ONE of the beam elements. Condensation algorithims are in many text book (e.g. Cook, et. al, page 222).

An open source FEM code that handles beam elements, and therefore handles their releases correctly, I am pretty sure, is OpenFEM.

That may be a useful reference.
