Ours showed up near Sacramento on Aug 26. The interesting thing is that our subscription expired on July 31. They must have already scheduled shipments prior to the expiration.

I'm not so sure that we're interested in leaving 2006-4.1 in favor of 2007-0.0 It's frustrating because 2007 appears to have some valuable functionality for us.

SBaugh your company is my VAR and I got my copy of 2007 this week!

We got our copies last week and I've only installed it on my machine so far ... just to take it for a test drive (vroom, vroom).

Lots of nice enhancements in this release ... especially S.W.I.F.T. ... although this new technology could potentially ruin my reputation as the SolidWorks Guru (or Geek) in my company.

For those people who have received their disc's ... what have you noticed as far as performance and stability issue's with SW07 ?

Cheers

I installed it right away upon receiving it, and have regretted it ever since. FULL of bugs, lousy performance, CRASHES four times an hour. Photoworks, more or less sucks to use now. I am not happy, and considering going back to 2006 and waiting a few years to ugrade again.

I don't think it is SW 2007 that is the problem. It must be with your install, hardware or system settings.

Ya, I have to agree with Ctopher. I think PhotoWorks is much better.

Razberryjones ... I agree with Chris. If you are having that many problems it is probably your system at fault.

Did you upgrade instead of making a fresh install?
Did you leave the anti-virus enabled?
Have you upgraded the video card driver?
Do you have a compatible video card?
Do you have sufficient RAM?
What CPU?
Which OS?

Holy Cow Razzberryjones ...

I haven't experienced those kinda problems since SW99 <shudder> ... I get the whillies just thinking of that release.

But ctopher ... rockguy ... and CorBlimeyLimey ... are correct. If you're experiencing that many problems, it can't possibly be the software. Something must have gone haywire during the install.

I'd completely un-install the software and start over from scratch.

But that's just my opinion.

Cheers

Razberryjones you are having CPU issues and way off base about PhotoWorks now. PhotoWorks 2007 is much better than 2006. Please explain what you think is not right about it. I know it's fantastic and have been rendering everything in 2007 since it was out in Beta even though I am still using 2006 for most of my production stuff.

Received my copy 5 minutes ago ... Central Ontario.

Will be installing this afternoon if time allows.

Just got back from the 2007 rollout.
Some very cool stuff! The "Expert" stuff that is added ... will put "drafters" out of work.
I especially love the new animation and Photoworks parts. Very nice! Can't wait to start using it.
We are moving our servers. I will install in a couple weeks.

Hello, sorry it took so long to respond...

SW 2007 and the NEW photoworks, is not good. And there better be a service pack soon. Every time I create a part, save it, and then reopen it- the computer will crash. I have to rename the file prior to the crash if I want to open it the second time I open solid works. Which by the way, never takes less than five minutes to open. NOTHING BUT HEADACHES!! I've gotton nothing done for two weeks, other than trying to relearn how to create even rudimentary renderings. It seems to me that SW, in an attempt to make the software user freindly for idiots, forgot about the people that have been using it for 6 years every day of their lives. HOW DO YOU SHUT OFF THE FILLET EXPERT AND ALL THAT OTHER EXPERT GARBAGE.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled 5 times now, yes with antivirus shut down, Yes, cleaned the registry, I've lost all my custom settings and data, Photoworks Legacy Materials, etc. WHERE IS BLACK SATIN MATERIAL??? THE ONLY WAY TO RENDER SOMETHING BLACK ON A WHITE BACKGROUD!!! WILL SOMEONE EMAIL ME THAT MATERIAL!!!! Photoworks, even with 4 gigs of RAM is still the slowest Piece of software I've ever tried to work with... NOOOOTTTT HAPPPY!!!!

I am running a brand new Dell 690 Workstation with 4 gigs of Ram, and a Nvidia Quadro FX 3000 Graphics Card. I see no conceivebable reason why it would be the computers fault that I still have to sit and stare at an hour glass for 15 minutes every time I save a redering to file, because it's using 100 percent of the system resources.

How much Ram do I need SW- 46,000 dollars worth???

Sorry for the rant, but if I wanted frustration like this, I would have bought Alibre, its alot cheaper, and gives out just as many headaches.

SICK O THIS.

As I have said before, it's not SolidWorks, it's the hardware/setup config/user.
Users like yourself usually end up with using Inventor.

Hey raz.

Clean it up. No one, I mean no one is having the same problems you are. I assume you updated all the drivers and everything......I would get one of the many RAM checking programs and see if you don't have some bad RAM. I read just about every SolidWorks newsgroup there is an your problems are yours and your alone. Does this happen working across the network and local?

Sorry Everyone, I've just been wrestling this demon for two weeks, and about to explode, everyone is on my case at work, It's tough trying to explain why suddenly I have no skills whatsoever, because my software shuts down every time I open a new file. Hopefully I get fired.
My seat of SW is the only one at my company. So essentially, yes, it's a local problem... I am going to have to check the RAM. If you say no one else is having these problems, if the reseller says no one else is having these problems, it's got to be true. In actuality it would suprise me less if the Dell has faulty RAM.

Back to the drawing board. and again, sorry for the explosion, Just reading about how happy everyone is with it, and going throght these nightmares and driven me a little over the edge.

I've had some issues on multiple "brand new" Dell machines and ended up doing complete reinstallations of Windows on the out-of-the-box machines as a precaution.

You should also run the Dell diagnostics and verify your hardware is OK. Your machine is presumably under warranty so you need to ID the source of the problem.

I'm sure you already have but you should make sure your burly graphics card is running the certified driver.

I'm with the previous respondants: the problem isn't the software -- the problem is being *revealed* by the software.

Good luck

Actually, I've had some strange file corruption problems pop up myself (see two separate threads I've started for details--might be useful). So it does happen and there are some issues with SP 0.
