I have just installed 2006. I start a new part, open a sketch, then extrude. At this point 2006 crashes. If I start two different parts and do a extrude in one of then I do not seem to have any problems. I have not done a lot more than this to see if I have any other problems. (I have opened and played with a limited number of files.)
This was done as a new install with 2005 still on the system and working OK.
Where do I start? New install, video driver ...

So you upgraded your SW05 to SW06? If so, then you need to read that Orange piece of paper, because it recommends a new install of SW06, not and upgrade.

If this is a new install then:

Check out the FAQ and try and repair, modify and if either of those don't work try the Alternative reinstall.

Scott,
Thanks for your reply. This is a new install. I have also kept SW05 on my system and it still works fine.

I have tried both repair and modify. I still have the same issue.

I have spent a little more time working with it and as long as I have more than one file open I do not seem to have the problem.

I think I will keep working with it a while to see if I have any other problems before I do a complete reinstall.

If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.

Thanks
Jim

Still try the "Alternative reisntall". It doesnt' have anythign to do with completely uninstalling the app. Read the FAQ and try it out. It's reversable.

jhricm,

Two ideas:

1) Check your memory usage while you are doing those tasks; you could be running out of memory. What other processes/programs are running at the same time as SolidWorks?

2) With SolidWorks shut down, try removing the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/SolidWorks. (Be very careful doing this; obtain the help of your IT dept. if necessary.) Then start SolidWorks again and see if you have the same problem.

The regedit worked. Problem fixed.

Thanks Scott
Thanks PDMAdmin

Jim,

I have the exact same problem. I tracked it down to the Bluebeam add-in. If I tried creating an extrusion while the add-in was selected, SW2006 would crash every time. As soon as I de-select it, everything is fine again.
