Hello

I was wondering if you could help.

I am looking to purchase several electric motors manufactured to spec to replace a specific type. I also have a drawing of the original motor. If you have any suggestions or could point me in the right direction I would much appreciated. Please see below specifications.

16.6 KW, 4 Pole , 1650 RPM (input RPM) , Y575 Volts , 3 Phase , 60hz, IP66, IMB5 FF350,
Duty S2-90min, brake type KFB 63,630 Nm, Cooling IC 410, 1 set of PTC resistors,
Re-lubrication device, easy bearing arrangement (only on DE at brake motors),
Oil protected version D side, Fixed bearing N side, Limit values to vibration velocity class A,
Terminal box one size bigger, Cable glands of auxiliary circuits screw plug,
Special version 4 manual lifting for brake, Balancing with half key, frame 200M4

Additional Specifications:

Mounting: IM B5 (IEC 200 Flange=FF350)
Shaft: Special 42mm dia x 52mm long with 12mm keyway & tapped hole up centre of shaft M20 x 42 mm
Brake supply: 575 volt, 1 ph, 60hz with rectifier
Brake sensor: Micro switch ( Brake on/off)
Bearings: Re-greasable with grease relief
Ambient: Max 40 degrees C
Rated current : 23 A (for 575V Y)
M=Const=89 Nm for frequency range 50…60HZ
M=Const=89 Nm for frequency range 5…..60HZ

Hello it says the motor type is UNELEC J200. (if that helps)

I think it's a french or german company. Your normal motors will not this kind of 9% slip. May be this is a special application needing that slip. Contact Reliance, Baldor, Ideal Electric (all in US), Schorz (germany)

I pretty sure that manufacturer is now out of business but I will contact the companies you have suggested., Many thanks edison.

What are you using this motor for? High slip motors are generally used on machines that have a heavy cyclic loading, such as punch presses and shears.

If this is an application where you need the slip for technological reasons, then the standard solution today is to use a normal motor plus a VFD to get the characteristics you need.
That makes a new motor easier to locate, lower cost, gives superior performance and a much softer start - which in itself could be reason enough to put a VFD there.

Hi, the motors will be used for the leg of a jack up rig (outside offshore use in a safe are).

Look for a design "D" motor. Design "D" motors have almost twice the breakaway torque or starting torque of normal design motors.
A design "D" may be the best choice to withstand the short term overloads that you may encounter, both in terms of peak torque and heat rejection.
In any event, check the starting torque specs of any replacement motors you consider.
A high breakdown torque does no good if you do not have enough starting torque to get a sticky load moving.
Perhaps some of the drive people will comment on VFD sizing for design "D" motors.
