I posted a similar question in the general civil site.
What sort of porblems or special considerations need to be taken into account when designing pumps in tandem?
In our area of NW Washington, I don't know of any installations?
The particular project is proposing two 18HP pumps in tandem...
OUr firm is working on a sewer pump station project. The pump arrangement that most satisfies the municipality is tandem pumps. One pump in the wetwell with the second located downstream in the valve vault. we have a high head, low flow situation.
We haven't designed pumps in this arrangement...
I'm doing the same thing, modeling a forcemain with several pump connections. I'm currently setting it up using Pipe2000 (newest version of KYPIPE).
I am going to try to model the end, where it connects to a gravity line, as a tank below my pipe elevation. I'm hoping it will see this as filling...

Our firm is using EaglePoint (EP) 2004 with AutoCAD 2002. My suggestion would be to upgrade your EP software to insure that it will operate (properly)with ACAD 2004.
We have been using EP for over 10 years and our experience is to keep it updated, especially with the newer versions of...

Are you using a wet-pond for water quality? If so, and you want more depth without being impacted by contaminates, consider lining the wet-pond portion with an impermeable liner (pvc, clay, etc.). We have had to do that on several ponds up here in Washington state because the bottoms...
We use StormShed by Engenious Systems. this has been a very good program for modeling basins, ponds, underground storage, etc. It is cabable of modeling complex networks. Input is fairly user-friendly. And it's not nearly as expensive or restrictive as Haestad.
We have used it for simple site...
Seems like your offset is only 1.5 feet per side, assuming your centering the roadway.
WSDOT recommends length of transition taper equals the tangential offset width times the design speed (L=VT). This formula is for lane narrowing on roads woth speeds of 45 MPH and higher. They recommend at...
If you are calculating the taper length to tie your new roadway into an exisitng one, then the width to use would be how much wider is your new pavement than the existing. For example, if you widened a 22 foot wide road to 32 feet, the change in width for each lane would be 5 feet (11 feet to 16...
lila,
Does traffic have to stop on cross street? Is main street a through road? Is there to be curb and gutter?
If I understand your description, main street slopes downhill from west to east. What is the grade? If traffic has to stop on cross street before entering main, then design main...
We use EaglePoint software at our office. Been using this for close to 14 years.
They have integrated the design software with ACAD fairly well. The Surface Modeling module works quite well and simply to develop DTM's and calculate quantities.
Of course ACAD has it's own suite of design tools...
I agree with the first response, deeper would be better. Are you limited to the 2.5 foot depth due to the outlet invert? If you can't get deeper, you may need to consider surface storage. Does your jurisdiction allow using parking lots for surface storage during the 100 year storm event...
I'm in the process of designing a road part of which will be constructed over an old landfill. The landfill hasn't been used for 20+ years, there is about 16" of soil over the "fill" and the fill is about 10 feet deep.
This is not a road which will get constant traffic, it will...
