Sulphuric Acid Dilution, strength change over time

rkrj, the drift you mentioned in temperature & cond. refers to some on-line measurement in the outlet pipe, during the mixing operation? Or they are tank conditions ? Thanks

    Magnetic driven pumps

Power Monitor in Mag driven pumps We are running Ansimag pumps since 1997. All pumps are monitored by the DKP , one of the monitors suggested by the vendor. Now, we try to find an alternative supplier of these devices. Have you any advice on this ? All pumps are in the 5-11 kw ... Regards

Analysing the chemical contents of a product (TOK Crete 45)

You must define if a qualitative or quantitative analysis is required. In the first case, just test the presence of SO4 or Cl anions. Silica should not interfere.

    Emulsion Polymerization Model

Latexman regarding your first post, I have developed some simplified dynamic model for emulsion polimerisation, which considers only some thermal & concentration effects. There is no prediction of latex properties. But it can be useful to simulate some basic moves, such as changes in monomer...

    Water anomaly: volume change

Ice density should be around 0,92 , according to Perry 6th Edition , thats explains a almost 10 % increase in volume. Regards

Engineering Cost Compared to Total Cost

In the our chemical company, engineering (third party & internal) is calculated as 10-15% of Total Direct Costs.

    Equipment Classification Systems

However, some "rules" can be useful : a) Use number ranges to separate differents areas or processes within your plant - 100-199 : Production A - 200-299 : Production B - 300-399 : Energy Services - 400-499 : Tank Farm / Storage ...... b) Assign a given (one) letter to...

    SO3 Scrubber & Demister

Thanks, my friend from Quitilipi! I have been in contact with Koch and EnviroChem, and the solution seems to be similar to that you describe. Regards

    SO3 Scrubber & Demister

We have to define some installation to treat gas effluents from sulfonation reactors. Typical components in the gas stream are H2O, Formaldehyde, SO3, N2, O2 and some Phenol .- The initial approach includes a scrubber with water or a caustic solution to absorb some of the components and a...

    Piping Heat Loss

First problem - steady state Tout = Ta - (Ta-Tin).exp(-U.Pi.D.L/F.Cp) where 1/U = 1/ha + 1/hw + e/k (...plus some diameter ratios) Hope the notation is clear enough In fact, hw (water side coefficient) is a function of Temperature, so the process could be: - estimate an outlet temperature -...

What happens when you burn Al2O3?

Just guessing... Perhaps they refer to some kind of thermal treatment, e.g. process Al2O3 for some hours an a given temperature (700 °C). This could have some effect on activating or promoting some acidic sites in the solid which are responsibles for asdortive properties of alumina (mainly used...

    Choice of Software

Thanks for your replies and for sharing your experiences. In fact, we do use several tools to performing the tasks I mentioned earlier, ranging from Excel & VB to specific applications for valves. The problem we normally have to cope with is that we must document all steps involved in the...

    Choice of Software

We are looking for some software for symbolic and numerical processing such as MathCad. The typical tasks to be carried out are : valve sizing piping design heat transfer pumps calculation insulations simulation of dynamic system and so on. We are in the Engineering department of a mid...

    separate acetic acid from nacl

Guess that by distilling you keep NaCl in AcH, instead of separating them ..... Can we test if there is some Metal which forms insoluble salts with Acetate and soluble with Chloride ?

Calculating rate of temp increase in bulk fluid.

Assuming that the avergare temperature in the tank is the Output temperature, the energy Balance for the Tank: dT M Cp ---- = F . Cp . (Tin - T ) dt Energy Balance for the Chiller Q = U.A.DT = F.Cp.(Tin - T) where DT is a function (logarithmic) of T. There is an analitycal...

Have you tried using a Pivot Table, with Date in the rows and the money as data (As Sum). This would give the report as you request Regards

High velocity in heat exchanger tubes

Think that JOM's approach is correct. If you guess that heat transfer is going down (because exit temperature tends to decrease), your controller should reduce the flowrate, not increase it !!. There is a first order effect in the relation Flow-temperature and a second order effect in the Heat...

The process unit is a wax hydrotrea

Well, think we should shift to football thread... we both are from argentina ( I am not good at football, I mean, not as good as him ) and ardiles is not a very common last name, so everyone establishes some link . He is back in Argentina as the coach of Racing Club Regards

    cooling of hot oil

Think that the problem is in the wall temperature, not in the bulk temperature. This can be calculated as shown in the thread <A HREF="thread391-39755

The process unit is a wax hydrotrea

Other issue: is the TI measuring within a cross section or just a point in a flow after passing a heater? What if the elbow enhances some radial mixing and you get a more uniform temperature ? Just guessing ....
