Hi All, Especially 10Gallen
I am in Tanzania. My Company has just aquirred 12d and your tip is godsend. In fact check highway engineering forum.
My Email is mooslimtj@hotmail.com
Hi Guys,
anybody familiar with 12d Model.Available at "www.12d.com". My Company has started recently using this program. It can read dwg files too.
Try copying the entire BoQ(Description, units & rates) to resource sheet and change type to materials, and go to ghant chart and allocate qty in resource allocation.Even Priliminaries & General can be allocated this way.Woa you will not believe your eyes!
We normally use heavy duty masking tape between the two surfaces. It works especially between Aluminium roof sheeting and MS Z-purlins. I used it in abuilding in 1984, and no corrosion has not been detected todate
I can produce very exciting structures in 3d shade mode, but only get 3d Wire frames in printout.SOS guys!
I need to it to bamboozle my Boss and his clients
1]For Quick Guesstimates of Quotations for any work,Rate=Material Cost X 4.Prilimininaries =Materials cost x 1.
2]A good Engineer=25% of schooling + 25% practical experience + 50% be able to out-bluff the other person!

I believe that the reinforcement is designed for max moment at centre of span.At the support it is for shear only.So it should not be a big if 'd' is slightly smaller at the support
Do not drill your dowels exactly horizontal. They should be off by about 10deg out of horizontal alternately above and below. That means they can act as shear restraints too,and shall not pull out.
1)Suppose there is an accidental lateral knock on a stub column by heavy equipment, the top reinforcement should help in the restraining.
2)Shrinkage of concrete in thick footings should also be taken into consideration. How many times has any consultant taken the effort to dig out a footing just...
Is the contractor is ultimately responsible for any failures caused due to faulty designs? The man on the street does not know the Architect/Engineer,it's the contractors reputation on the line!
If u r working in a place where u do not have any alternative for steel reinforcement.Do it.Kill a deer with a bullet meant for an elephant.I have used once railway sections as beam reinforcement.
Is your huose insured? If yes put in a repair claim. The rest of the business of catching anybody liable for damages shall be follwed out by the assessors.
