Fullmetalbracket,
What is the diameter of your floating piston?
How long is the piston?
Is the cylinder going to be vertical or horizontal?
I would not recommend an O-Ring at those speeds, your seal will fail quickly. Please provide me with this information and I will recommend a seal/wear...
What is the temp of your application? Can you use PEEK? or PTFE. I have successfully used flexible graphite as backup rings or fire safe seals behind primary seals which experienced ED, however I did not examine the grafoil rings thoroughly. However, no obvious ED damage occurred in any of...
Not is the VB code to do it. Not sure if that will help you...

Hello All,
I have been working on a SW design program for quite some time now. I have almost goten the entire program complete... however I have two questions I am hoping that some of you with a little bit more coding experince might be able to help me with.
My first problem is I cannot...
Thanks for the response. I am now working with another engineer in my department on this. We decided it would be more beneficial if we wrote a macro for solidworks to make the drawings for us., so the everything would be scaled properly. He is working on linking our excel dimensions to a...
When you save the drawing it still links back to the excel file. The excel file will be continuously changing throughout the day as the designers make 100s of drawings a day, this could become a problem
.
Hello all,
I am looking for some help creating macros in excel/solid works. Let me give you a brief explanation of the project I was assigned, and what I am trying to do. One of our major product lines for the company I work for is machined plastic rings. We currently have ~1,000 different...
I have scoured the internet, as well as spent countless hours fiddling in solid works for a solution to my problem below. I haven’t had any luck, but I am sure this can be done. If anyone has any input it would be much appreciated!
I have done 100's of solid work design templates that...

http://www.fast-houston.com/ They have testing/manufacturing culpabilities for peek products as well as any other polymer material that comes to mind. In addition to a friction/wear testing culpabilities they have a large engineering staff that can help you out. If you are interested send me a...
That is an o-ring loaded u-cup. parker makes thee or you can go through a distributor such as McMaster. Also a company in Houston called FAST Houston Seals or CDI makes them aswell.
I need to know more operating conditions. Media and temperature. I would suggest a spring energized seal or a simple rubber O-Ring. Like I said it depends on temperature range and media.
I think utex offers it aswell. it is used alot in valves when they start to leak to pack off or create load on the packings to seal the stem before the stem seal can be replaced.
Victrex makes a PEEK coating that comes in a film which you wrap around a part and then put it through a centering process to cure it. I think they also make a liquid peek option aswell. In addition you might try Teflon tape? A company called FAST Houston makes/offers all of these products...
I would check out a material called ORKOT or ORKOT equivalent. I would need to know your media, max load, and temp to insure this is a good recommendation. Trelleborg the company that makes Orkot has long lead-times, if you need something fast try Hallite I think they offer a 552 which is very...
PTFE filled peek would be ideal for this application. "Soft: peek material used alot in ball valves exc, it is ~40-50%ptfe filled which greatly reduced the friction, I have some information I could possibly send you for this calculation. If you are interested send me a PM.
The calculation is real simple. See the attached file to find the equations and quick picture that represents what I think you are doing. If you have any additional questions please let me know!
