How do we determine TRIM numbers for valves (other than just googling it)? is there any specification for valves (ASME, ASTM, CSA. etc) ?

Thanks for the reply!

What if the valves don't come with drawings or data sheets? Also, last time I asked the vendor to confirm the trim #(for example if Trim 12CrHF is equivalent to trim 8) and confirmed with a random online trim chart.

I believe trim#s are different depending on the valve manufactures

API 600, 602 provide some direction on Trim/CNs.

Valve datasheets won't tell you anything about the trim you need. You need to understand your fluid process & then determine which trim will hold up best for that service.

Trim numbers are not different between valve vendors. They're standardized under API602, API600, etc. The confusing thing is some vendor datasheets will use different jargon terms compared to the API602, API600, etc. standards.
