How durable is industrialized construction really, and what factors most affect its lifespan compared to traditional building methods?

Such as what? One might argue that "industrialized construction" is pretty traditional

yeah, you have to be more specific in your terminology. are "traditional" building methods "wattle and daub" ?

if you're talking about modern building methods, how is "industrialized construction" different to "traditional methods" ?

I’m referring to industrialized modular construction using GRC panels and similar systems. I’d like to know whether these new construction methods can achieve the same durability as traditional construction, and what measures can be taken to ensure effective maintenance.

Take a second and think things through.
How are the panels made - and what tolerances? Of what materials? How are they put together to form structures?
How do those answers stack up against "traditional" (whatever that means in your part of the world) materials and geometries?

What factors affect traditional construction? Are they going to impact the new materials (and methods) equally?

why would you think the new building materials and methods are less robust than "traditional" methods ?

Do buildings with these materials have additional inspections/maintenance ? (I don't think so)

Sure, these new materials could be susceptible to damage from the environment (unlike traditional materials) ... like in aircraft we found composites are damaged by UV light (unlike traditional materials). But this is usually only found after exposure to the environment, possibly people testing stuff in labs happen upon these interactions.

The OP's cited material is supposedly up to 80% lighter than "traditional" concrete, so there's going to be some give there.

Durability comes from applying materials appropriately, and maintaining them.

If that's a precondition, then there will be no difference in durability between industrialized modular construction using GRC panels and "traditional construction".

Yeah, exactly. I don’t think these new systems are necessarily less durable, but since they haven’t been around as long as traditional methods, there’s just less long-term data — especially across different climates. That’s why I’m curious how they perform over time in real-world conditions.

Even with solid lab testing, some issues might only surface after years of exposure.

It’s an exciting shift in construction — I’m just interested in understanding any potential long-term trade-offs.

so really you're asking for any service experience with this construction ? So you want to talk to people you have them installed (clients) and people who installed them (erectors).
