Wood Species (revisited)

Hey all,

I know this question was kinda asked before...not sure where...but anyway, here is my scenario.

Rhode Island, building constructed in the 1960s. Wood, as seen in this photo, appears reddish in color.

It's definitely firm, and creates longer splinters (tried breaking a piece off). I want to say that it is a doung-fir, but I'm just not sure.

Any advice?

I wouldn't want to say for sure, but it looks reddish in color which suggests Hemlock Fir to me.

Agree with dik...do you have anything with a closer shot of the grain? Color might not mean anything.

Another one. Grain (possibly) distinguishable third joist in.
