    Goodbye everyone

Hi all, in the past few years I have used this forum on a regular basis to enhance my knowledge of Solid Edge. I have tried to help others when I could, but must admit that hasn't been the case wuite often enough. Now I have to leave this forum, as I no longer use Solid Edge. I have switched...

Counting How Many Features in a Part?

Anthony, I have seen lots of macro's for Solid Edge, but didn't know about this one. Do you have a personal library, or is it public? ;-) IJsbrand Schipperus Visualise your vision... in 3D www.Horchner-Hammersma.nl

    Release Date for ST2

Do you guys have access to the new license files also? I can download ST2, but I can't download a new license file... IJsbrand Schipperus Visualise your vision... in 3D www.Horchner-Hammersma.nl

ST interface is terrible - any band aids?

GJACC, i don't know what CTRL+F does in your office, but at my place it starts up 'find and replace'. I can't imagine what you want Solid Edge to do with this command. As for the ALT-key combinations. They still do the same: They open up the 'Pull-Down'-menu's (which are now the tabs)...

    SolidEdge on Windows 7

Thanks DY, Correction: I hope ST2 will be supported on Windows 7. Sorry to hear it won't... I'm sick of installing XP, Vista is slow, Windows 7 would be a relief. IJsbrand Schipperus Visualise your vision... in 3D www.Horchner-Hammersma.nl

    SolidEdge on Windows 7

Hi All, a few weeks ago I installed Solid Edge ST on Windows 7. Must say it works very good, just had to do some tweaking to get it installed: Installation will stall. Open task manager and kill the process printerinstaller and Installation will end. Same for the Maintenance Packs. Have fun...

    Include command help

Hi Custom, interpart relationships (the include command makes them) are saved in the highest assembly Solid Edge can save to at the moment you make your interpart relationship. This means that everytime you want to add a relationship, you will have to open that assembly. It is called the...

    Data Import

Spaceman1209, I might know someone who already has written a macro for this. I'm not sure about the price. I can't seem to find a way to PM you. Please go to www.solid-tools.com and leave a message there. (on the left of this site, under 'powered by...' you can find an e-mail adress) IJsbrand...

    SE with Vista

I am running V20 on Vista and there are no problems. The only Vista problem we have is synchronizing issues with our Small Business Server 2003 (roaming profiles). I think that's where you should be careful with, Solid Edge is no problem. Visualise your vision... in 3D www.Horchner-Hammersma.nl

    2-d into 3-d

Georgegill, you can use the create 3D option from the draft environment. This command can be found under the Tools pull down menu. The command asks for a view. Select it (window select to make it easy). Then click next view, select a view to the side or above the first one. Select as many...

Creating 3D expanded metal - Pattern and Vent Problems

Hi Martin, If i'm right the solution is to make the cutout, then pattern it along the area. I'm assuming you do have a rectangular area, otherwise it would be more dificult. The rectangular pattern can be set to the limits of where you want it to stop. Use the right setting for the boundaries...

another mate queston, plate edges to tube, again oddball angles

To place this part in the assembly, take a close look at what really has to be connected... It is impossible for te faces of the plates to match the faces of the cilinder. What will happen if it's placed right? The edges of the faces will be on the cilindric surface. To accomplish this, use the...

    Screw Thread Creation

I think CorBLimeyLimey was informed that threads cen be created in Solid Edge in a few mouse clicks using the threads command... This means the answers are: No true helical form (why would you want it?) It should affect performance a tiny little bit, but I've never felt any difference (the...

    Tips for robust sketches

Swertel, thanks, you're totally right. Open profiles are one of the kicking features in Edge. I was wrong. Open profiles are OK as long as they are fully defined too.... And PatCouture. Maybe because I'm not native English, what does K.I.S.S. stand for??? I really love computers, but I hope...

    Tips for robust sketches

Kenat, I know exactly what you mean... Just the other day someone asked me why his chamfer aded material instead of removing it. It turned out there was a very thin layer of material over the edge, because one profile wasn't fully constrained... The steps I usually teach new emplyees are: 1-...
