@DriveMeNuts: Thank you, I see Appendix H of API-530 and now searching the ASTM DS6S2 that is behind the Figure E.5 of API-530. I hope I can derive average stress rupture at test temperature and test duration (Test temperature and duration are embedded into LMP). Test less than 20000 hours...
Dear Experts
How to decide test temperature and stress (i-e test matrix) for creep rupture stress test (also sometimes referred as accelerated creep testing). Material is SA-213-T22, operating temperature 500C, OD 31.8 mm, Thickness 4.0 mm. Boiler is in-service since 1983. Original Code of...
Just one point to add, when sub-size specimens option is selected, lateral expansion in addition to absorbed impact energy shall also be reported. Fully agreed with David339933 that sub-size specimens are not mandatory for the subject scenario

The reference (ASME Sect VIII Div2, Appendix4) only appears in 2004 and earlier editions of ASME Sect VIII Div2.
In 2007, VIII-2 was re-written and the above mentioned reference you cannot find in 2007 and later editions.

I have couple of questions on Part 4; API-579-1 (Edition 2016)
1- If length for thickness averaging (computed from equation 4.6) is more than vessel length, how thickness averaging can be performed in this situation? This situation often arises when Q=50 and Dml is large.
2- If length for...
5.8.1.2 requirements are applicable only to materials in Groups IV, IVA, V or VI and are NOT required to meet for I, II, III and IIIA. See below interpretation (it will provide the intent that 5.8.1.2 requirements are only for the material groups IV or higher), old reference of clause 5.8.1.2...
I have a question on Figure 10.3 (ASME FFS-1/API-579-1)
Material (SA-516-70) is exposed to a temperature 1500F for 45 minutes due to fire incident.
Figure 10.3 enlists the curves up to a maximum temperature 1200F.
How to make use of Figure 10.3 in this case? Thanks.

Lowest stress ratio is equal to allowable stress value in tension at test temperature divided by allowable stress value at design temperature. Generally it is 1 upto 250C.

Plant got fire due to leakage of propane. Hardness survey was performed on affected piping, material of construction is A671 CC65. Minimum hardness value we did measure 90 and max 129. Average is 114. Almost 500 readings were taken on 12meter pipe.

Good evening.
I have question on Table 2E.1 (by using this table tensile strength can be estimated by using hardness value).
If hardness value is 90 BHN. Lowest value as per Table 2E.1 is 114 HBN. How to estimate tensile strength for 90 BHN? table does not enlist lower than 114 BHN. Any idea...
Dear Pradip,
agreed with you that there are many process concerns, stress corrosion cracking concerns etc.
Say if none of them is applicable. To make the question simple and straight forward, only Table 331.1.3 is a concern.
Is it correct that 40 mm control thickness (P-No.1 Group No.1) is...
Dear Pradip,
Thanks for your valuable comments.
Say PWHT is not required due to Point No 4.
AS I understand PWHT is not required even control thickness is over 38 mm provided that preheat is applied as required by Table 331.1.3. Do you agree?
If it is so, it looks strange when compared with...
