Does anyone know of a formula to determine the length of material in a volute spring?
The given data would be:
ID
OD
Material thickness
Material Width
Clearance between coils
Thanks,
Dominic
As the thread title suggests, I would love to be able to customize Inventor 2013's user interface to make it look more like the older version of Inventor. You can do that with AutoCad Mechanical. You simply change the view to "AutoCad classis" and those annoying "panel bars" go away and you get...
We have want to bond a piece of silicone coated silica fabric to a piece of polyurethane coated polyester.
We've tried a number of adhesives including RTV, Loctite Extreme Repair Adhesive, and CA Glue. The CA glue was the only adhesive that seemed to work. However it was a brittle bond at best...
I'm using Inventor 2008. SP2 was installed several months ago. I have no idea if the virus scanned was disabled. I'm going to assume that it was not since you need administrative rights (which I don't have) to disable it.
Just a note here. The problem seems to have cleared up after I re-installed SP2 (Inventor). I have no idea what corrupted the printer drivers so that only Inventor would get this error. But re-installing the service pack seems to have fixed it.
Typically during the design process, and while in the Assembly Environment I like to switch the view to Isometric and print the model as it appears. I used to be able to do this but all of a sudden I'm not. This happens ONLY in Inventor and with EVERY printer that I use. It even happens with...
I'm looking for an on line source for structural shape dimensions.
While I have a feeling that the angles, wflanges, and the rest of the "canned" shapes in the Content Center are reasonably correct, I've recently been asked to double check some of them. It's not the overall dimensions. It's...
Because it is a database and tends to name parts and retain the name (no matter what you do) it just seems like a safer bet to get the parts from another source.
Having parts that you can rename, and give descreet part numbers to is VERY important in my industry. If you can live with the...
I tried naming it something simple like "Bob" and it still would not allow me to rename it.
Since the time of this original thread I have advised everyone using Inventor to NOT use the content center. Any hardware part we need is readily available on line (like at McMaster Carr), and Structural...
I just wanted to update this thread with a reply as to the usefulness of the 2008 Design Assistant.
It does EXACTLY what I needed to do. I needed to swap old parts out of an assembly and have the new ones show up. It worked FLAWLESSLY.
While waiting for an answer I found the problem. I found a face that was totally removed by a cut, then re-inserted (a very bad practice). Once I removed it and corrected the effected features, the flat pattern function worked perfectly.
Thanks for the help anyway
For starters, I'm using Inv V11, SP2.
I just got this message when attempting to unfold (what I thought was) a rather simple sheet metal part (I have attached a screen shot).
It says that it "..could not spilt between and plate. Please check if there is a relief gap so bend can be deformed."...
Thanks Folke! I appreciate the response. We can't use "The vault" since we'r using Adept. And that program is not really set up to do what I want as easy as Revision Manager was. Boy, I miss Rev Mgr!!
