If it's a 3D sketch, perhaps you brought it directly into the assembly, so it is fixed relative to the assembly planes. You probably want to import it into a part, then bring the part into the assembly, floating. Then you should be able to move it around.
You can run two instances of SolidWorks even on a single proc machine. Usually it works OK, tho it does seem to makes things a little flaky at times. It can be valuable for comparing two parts that have the same name - normally you can't open them both at the same time. Of course, then you...
You can accidentally turn a solid into a surface model by right-clicking on a face and selecting delete. This deletes a face, leaving behind a surface body. To fix it, first look in your feature tree for a DeleteFace feature. If you have done this by accident, you can just select that feature...
I would strongly urge you not to type in a replacement value for <Dim>. That is one of the surest ways there is to introduce drawing errors. Why? Because when you then change a model dimension, your drawing still displays the value you entered. You will have removed the associativity...
One problem you may be running into is the "Solution cannot be determined" error when you edit the first sketch under the hole feature in order to specify the exact location you want the hole. When putting a hole directly on a cylindrical surface, edit that first sketch under the hole...
Often when you add sketched bends to a sheetmetal part you catch the original point which specified your stationary surface. So the result is that the surface of the tab stays, and the main part bends up. Fix it by Edit Definition of the Sketched Bend, and make sure you select your stationary...
I agree that drafting rules dictate that any items behind transparent parts should be shown as hidden. However, if you turn on hidden lines, you will see all edges of all parts throughout the assembly.
The main area where this becomes an issue is for technical manuals, where the drawing...
Three minutes to load is not bad for that size of assembly. That indicates to me that you have enough CPU horsepower. Thirty seconds per arrow click rotation is very bad. That indicates to me an underpowered video card. However, are you rotating in wireframe mode? That will slow things way...
I would like some forum feedback on how people deal with clear parts in their assembly drawings. For example, if you have a plexiglass guard that you want show the edges of, but also show the items behind it. My best solution so far is to make a configurations in the assembly with the guard...
Make sure you are not in Edit Part mode. When you edit a part in assembly, SolidWorks now turns your assembly transparent (other than the part you are editing.) Note that this behavior is controlled by your options settings.
One other possibility, try editing the component properties, select...
solidmodeler & alecu:
It looks like you are both having a similar difficulty. My guess is that it has to do with how you modify your BOM template.
First, it is important that you actually modify the BOM template. If you insert a BOM, then modify that BOM in the drawing, those changes will be...
Most title blocks have the most info located in the lower right corner. So, when you make another size, you have to move everything. One easy way to move entities on your title blocks is by right-clicking on the top-most icon in the tree and selecting Move.... This will pop up a dialogue that...
I am guessing that the source of your trouble is that the dimensions you put in are different between the flat pattern and as-bent? If you go to the flat pattern configuration to put in reference dimensions, they will change when you switch to the as-bent configuration, since the positions of...
That message indicates that the drawing is out-of-sync with the model. You need to "load the model" to remove this message. To do that, when you open the drawing make sure to click the checkbox to load the model before clicking the open button.
