Hi, I am looking for any papers or research done on hydraulics external gear pump heads with spur gears. We are trying to optimise our existing pump by altering tooth counts and clearances. Before spending lots of time and money on prototypes I thought there could be studies already done in this area. Also if anyone has information on coating the internal walls of piston type hydraulic accumulators to help with the stick slip effect.
Thank you

I have posted in another section as well because this relates to multiple sectons

Creating multiple posts creates multiple problems. Pick the best one and stick with it.

I think that the makers of gear pumps have already done this work as would the accumulator makers for their products.

i am not really interested in just blindly handing over money for pallets of parts which anyone can already buy. We are striving to be better

Blindly handing over money that others have spent huge amounts of money in research efforts to develop a product to sell to you at a tiny fraction of that research cost? Spending that gains them cost advantages in the mass production of parts?

You can, at best, be less than a fraction of a percent better at a tremendous increase in cost. How much will you spend on cutting, precision grinding, and polishing these gears and housings?

Where do you see an exploitable gap? Start by copying an existing design and compare the performance side-by-side. See if you can at least be equal on cost and results what is available on a pallet.

All the current companies would have access to exactly the same literature you are seeking and will already have incorporated anything that reduces cost or increases performance. They will have spent decades on tuning their product, tens of thousands of man-hours, working to beat competitors who are similarly equipped.
