Seismic and Wind on connected building

I am currently working on a remodel for a hotel complex in Colorado. The project contains 3 separate buildings that are connected with a service tunnel. The main building (on the right) is controlled by seismic (seismic design category B), however, the other 2 buildings (the duplex and carriage house remodel) would be controlled by wind (165 mph LRFD). Since the buildings are connected, would seismic detailing need to be completed for the other wind-controlled buildings?

When you say wind controlled I assume you mean that the base shear due to wind is greater than the seismic base shear. That does not alleviate the need for seismic detailing.

You must ensure seismic detailing is performed at least to the level required based on seismic design category, and MSFRS, regardless of the wind shear amount. The code makes no mention of a wind-controlled building.

So my answer would be yes seismic detailing does need to be completed.

Thanks. I work in a special wind region where wind base shear is usually 3~4 times greater than seismic base shear, so the overstrength factor typically does not affect design whatsoever. I knew that toe-nails cannot be used for SDC D or above, but didn't know any other restrictions. I'm also relatively new to structural engineering.
