Seems like a pain to excavate and backfill, box would seem simpler.
 
That's what you get for asking AI how to design something. Manholes are almost always round for a reason. It's designed as a hoop with soil pressure all around the outside. Live load surcharge is typically the only unbalanced lateral pressure. The primary loading of concern for design is the vertical load from vehicles.

Even a box-shaped manhole would be more efficiently designed with the walls spanning horizontally.

In any case, the design for vertical live load (truck wheel loads) is typically the area of most concern in design.
 
And so it begins - engineers using AI to design something.

I asked ChatGPT about "bristol centaurus engines". It got the number cylinders right. It got the displacement wrong. It listed three aircraft in which it was used, one of which actually did use it. It did not mention the sleeve valves it used.

Should ChatGPT have anything whatsoever to do with engineering design? No!
