Piping Working Pressure Allowable
Piping Working Pressure Allowable
(OP)
I need to install a compressed air high pressure piping system.
Our client wants to use a steel pipe,
The working pressure shall be 3,000-psi in one piping system and 6,000-psi in the second system.
The pipe diameters are 1-1/4" and below
I am wondering if the ASTM A106 seamless grade-B is enough.
Please let me know the spec for this piping.
Thanks a lot

I suggest that you look at ASME/ANSI B31.3 Process Piping Code, which has a section on high pressure piping (above class 2500). There are some Code limitations on fabrication methods used in high pressure piping that you need to be aware of.
Be careful about socket weld fittings. Make VERY good fillet welds if socket weld fittings are used.
