classifications of corrosive environments in marine atmosphere

Is there a standard or a guide for classification of corrosive environments in a marine environment, relative to various coating systems and their durability

Similar to ISO 12944, however, perhaps modified to specifically describe different areas on board a ship.

My job is to create a tool to simplify and somewhat standardize the process of specifying protective coating systems on various items to be installed in newconstruction of ships.

Any input will be appreciated.
