Can you count an interior shearwall as continuous around a perpendicular wall?

(OP)
hey guys so if you have an interior shearwall that has perpendicular walls coming into both sides of it you would have to count each side as a separate shearwall and place holdowns on each side correct? Or can you count it as continuous.

Thank you!

Depends on your detailing. If you have a 2x4 wall perpendicular, detail the intersection to have a 2x6 within the plane of your shear wall and nailed to the parallel wall. Then you can fasten the edge of your shear wall sheathing to that. Now, tell me how that's different from adjacent panels of sheathing being fastened to the narrow face of a common 2x stud.

Some good detailing to avoid additional hold downs is worth it. There are some situations where I like to have extra hold downs instead of sharing but its uncommon.
