I am working on analyzing a 3 story wood structure that is over 100 years old. It has a basement that has about a 4 ft to 6 ft concrete stem wall at the perimeter. it is 36' x 55'. I have added analysis of interior shear to reduce the loading on the cracked concrete foundation for installation of hold downs. So, now that I have interior shear walls, it looks like a 4 story building. I has always used a spreadsheet we developed that if for 3 stories. Does anyone have a recommendation for the easiest shear wall software to use for multistory wood? I have tried to download woodworks, but I keep getting an error asking to uninstall it. I am also looking at clearcalcs, and digital canal shear wall program.

1) why are you adding shear walls to a 100 year old building?

2) by hand is the best bet, especially for a building that small.

I'd be more interested in the hold-down calculation than the relatively trivial expansion of a 3 story shear wall spreadsheet to a four story one. There are the woodworks (not the software company) design examples, too.

What Pham said.
You should be able to do this by hand much quicker than messing with a spreadsheet modification.
