concrete wall sliding and OT checks

(OP)
Hello,

I ran a global stability analysis for a concrete retaining wall using SLOPE/W.

As usual, other than global stability, we need to check Overturing and sliding.

I was wondering If it is advisable to obtain the acting forces on the WALL from SLOPE-W analyses OR do i need to run another software (such as PYWALL) which generates earth pressures and grab from there the forces to run OT and sliding?

Please advise.

RE: concrete wall sliding and OT checks

You only input strength parameters in Slope W. I dont think you input Ka, Ko etc.

And even assuming that the software internally calculates Ka, Ko etc, is wrong I believe as I dont think OCR is in input. OCR is also a parameter required for determining earth pressures.

You dont need software, an hand calc or spreadsheet is all you need for OT and sliding checks.

Thanks a lot.

It makes sense.

You do not need any software to generate earth pressures and check for OT and sliding stability. You can do hand calculation or develop Excell spread sheet .

Pls look attached doc. for more info.

Use it up, wear it out;
Make it do, or do without.
