Integrity testing of precast driven piles with steel moment connection joints
Integrity testing of precast driven piles with steel moment connection joints
(OP)
Hi,
I have a project where precast piles have been extended with joints in order to achieve required driven length. Sonic Echo Method is being used to verify integrity but the signal cannot pass the joints so the integrity of the section below the joint can't be verified. Is there an alternative method to verifying integrity here that we can consider?
Thanks!

RE: Integrity testing of precast driven piles with steel moment connection joints
I understand why it is attractive for a CIP bored pile, particularly when placed without casing. (Even then, I'm a little skeptical of how useful the results are). But it seems integrity of a precast pile should be confirmed by observations during pile driving.
