Equation Editor Volumes

I am trying to do some analysis within SolidWorks' equation editor. When I assign "SW-Volume" to a variable, I get the message "Potential circular reference", and it takes much fiddling around to make it update correctly. I am trying to convert a film wrapping into a length value for the BOM.

Is there a reliable way to call up volume within the equation editor?
