Drawing a mechanical design of a reactor

Drawing a mechanical design of a reactor

(OP)
Hi,
I want to produce a detailed scaled mechanical design for a reactor, but it has torispherical heads, and heating coils, and other complicated elements to draw. I have seen AutoCAD, but I have never used that, and I have downloaded it but it seems rather complicated to use. So I was wondering if anyone else knew about an engineering software that would make drawing those schematics easier.

Thanks!

RE: Drawing a mechanical design of a reactor

What CAD software is recommended by your university / college? It will be much easier in the long-term if you are using the same software as your teachers, tutors and fellow students, as you will all be able to support each other.

A true 3D modelling software system might be more suitable for the task of preparing drawings of complex mechanical designs - e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor, etc. All CAD software has a fairly steep learning curve when it comes to modelling and drawing shells of revolution, spiral tubes, etc. Any skills that you learn in one CAD system can be transferred to other CAD systems when your needs change - e.g. when you need to use whatever software your employer requires.
