are there any NFPA terms stipulating the conditions of using Smoke extraction system?
are there any NFPA terms stipulating the conditions of using Smoke extraction system?
(OP)
Hi, all
Are there any NFPA terms stipulating the conditions of using either natural or mechanical Smoke extraction system? For example,as per my local fire standard, a mechanical smoke extraction system shall be used if the floor area exceed 50sq meter if without windows, so I wonder are there similar codes in NFPA?
Thanks a lot!

Individual occupancies may speak to requirements for "smoke control" systems. Here are a couple:
Mercantile Occupancies, NFPA 101:36.4.4.12, required in mall concourse with floor openings connecting more than 2 stories.
Smoke protected assembly seating requires a smoke control, NFPA 101:13.4.7.5.1.
New healthcare occupancies speak to the requirement for an engineered smoke control system, NFPA 101:18.7.7
There are multiple other chapters and occupancies that speak to this in the same way.
