Thermal stress in multilayer reinforced composite beams
Thermal stress in multilayer reinforced composite beams

Hello
Just wondering any idea which structure (in the image attached) has higher thermal stresses due to temperature change?
Thanks

Why the left two?
Assume same materials for each layer and a material with a bit elastic modulus higher for the fibers

Your center picture will have the highest interlaminar stresses due to the double thickness of the plies. It will also warp into a potato chip due to the unbalanced layup. The unidirectional layup has the lowest stress.
