Hi I an making a progect in my univercity. We learn to work with different sensors, measuring devices, etc to gather parameters of let's say subject to control it's status. I'm intereted it control of quality goods on manufactury. So for example we make parts of engine which has to have same measurements to original CAD drawing or cad 3d model. And there are a 3d scanner in our lab, which can be used to capture accurate shape of such objects. So teoretically I can get 3d scans of manufactured parts and then compare them to the reference. The problem is that the scanner I can use is handheld. It's Artec Space Spider. I know it is used for quality control, but manually. I came upe with an Idea to attach it to a robotic hand, which will manipulate it same as human hand would do.
I'd like to have some suggestions for robotic hands that can be proggrammable for such purpose.
I know C++ and a bit of C. Also scanner has an API which uses C++ so if robot would use the same language I, maybe would be able to syncronise them. I am allowed to spend up to 500$.
I have some ideas what to use for comparing 3d models? we use Geomagic software for it in the lab. But it's not the easies software to use and a bit owerpowered? so if there are any suggestions I would be happy to read.

This instrument is relatively crude; drawing dimensions might typically go down to 0.025 mm, and high precision dimensions down to 0.0025 mm. You are proposing to re-invent a CMM https://www.creaform3d.com/en/metrology-solutions/... That may be meritorious, but you've not indicated anything that stands out.

Haha. Well, it might be interesting to replicate a solution with different scanner. I would try to research Creaform's one to see if I can pick something up.

Creaform is only one of many; you're pretty late coming to this particular party. Note that most CMMs don't use scanners, and with only 0.05-mm accuracy, it's not anywhere good enough for most engineering applications
