Cathodic Protection - Underground Pipe

Cathodic Protection - Underground Pipe

Cathodic Protection - Underground Pipe

(OP)
Dear Folks ,
I have been dealing with some issues related to cased underground piping and I need some technical help.
When a CP is implemented the main purpose is to protect the bare pipe. However, the first barrier for soil corrosion as a damage mechanism is the sleeve. Both, the sleeve and pipe are corrosion wrapped protected.

Is a normal practice you try to protect or monitor the sleeve through CP in case corrosion wrap fails?
Does it make sense to talk about CP for the sleeve?

Thanks in advance and any feedback is highly appreciated

Hi SJones,
Thank you for that short answer. Short answer that helps a lot.
I really appreciate it !!

RE: Cathodic Protection - Underground Pipe

I would go yes to both questions.

Often the sleeve is protected using a sacrificial anode

Better still have no sleeves.
