Cathodic protection with Al-Zn-In anodes of carbon steel / 316L

Hi,

I have a case where we are changing out anodes (Al-Zn-In) on a pipe in carbon steel (exact grade unknown to me atm) submerged in seawater. The issue is that we only have available anodes with anode brackets made from 316L. How will this affect the protection of the carbon steel pipe? Will it still be protected?

In the case the carbon steel is protected, can there be an issue in the connection point between the carbon steel bolt (welded to pipe) and anode bracket in 316L?

The anode should protect both materials. If the anode becomes completely wasted the stainless bracket will become a problem.
 
Would the OP care to elaborate on the format of the anode and the connection. It doesn’t sound typical pipeline.
