Cessna brought the SkyCourrier to the Airventure.

It looks like FedEx will start taking delivery this year.

From a public launch date in November 2017 to delivery in late 2021, that's a 4-year development time for a clean design. I wish others in the aviation industry could respect that for what it really is. I'm impressed.

There are still scant details about performance such as landing, crosswind, fuel usage although you could infer some of it based on other stats that have been published (on the website).

On a side NOTE. DAMM.

Looks like the Russians had a very bad day with their prototype light transport...

This is a 'very real life-and-death' business we are part of... as is often overlooked in the 'play world' of simulation and games and UAVs.

RE: Can Cessna trap the Otter? - Part III

Sure - it's terrible. And American GA kills one person a day, on average, so this is not even half a week. As that airplane was destined to help further Putin's policies, I'm not so sad at the loss of the plane, though I feel bad for the people working on it and who were flying in it.

My guess is that the fire was secondary and they blew a turbine disk and severed a bunch of hydraulics or other controls. It looks like a plane that can manage a decent glide and a windmilling prop should be annoying and not fatal. Is this a new design for the engine?

RE: Can Cessna trap the Otter? - Part III

A concept I had been mulling for years... which may be coming into it's own.

New use for an existing commuter-sized twin-engine aircraft... which the new Cessna Sky Courier has a remarkable similarity-to.

NOTE. A bird like this could easily 'handle' a 3-barrel 50-caliber GAU-19/B light-weight Gatling-gun out a LH side window-opening... making it a quick-strike mini-gunship, too.

RE: Can Cessna trap the Otter? - Part III

any different to the King Air mod'd planes ?

another day in paradise, or is paradise one day closer ?

RE: Can Cessna trap the Otter? - Part III

actually Twin Otter was analyzed for either rocket or gun pods.

RE: Can Cessna trap the Otter? - Part III

MIL King Airs [MC-12] appears to be ELINT ONLY... no offensive weapons... or the C-12, which is pure pax/cargo.
