Selection of Pressure gauge Range For Hydrostatic Pressure Test as per ASME standard
Selection of Pressure gauge Range For Hydrostatic Pressure Test as per ASME standard
(OP)
Q- As per ASTM E1003-13 "The gauge must be accurate to within 1 % of full scale. The gauge must read at least 1.5× but not more than 4× the maximum test pressure to be used".
Is there any standard which can permit me to use pressure gauges more than 4X hydro test pressure .
for Ex- 4Xhydro test pressure is 340kg/cm^2 , can i use pressure gauge having range of 0-350kg/cm^2 for hydrostatic pressure gauge

Correction - after re-reading your post.
Test pressure = 85.
your gauge may go up to 130 but not more than 340.
My suggestion - minimum 0 kg/cm^2. maximum - 150kg/cm^2.

By the Code your gage needs to have a full scale of 130 to 340.
I wouldn't use the 350 gage, look for one with full scale 150 to 250 to use. It will work better and make you look like you know what you are doing.
