hi fellows
I installed a new controller to mtu 18v2000 engine
please I have a problem with dse 7320 controller
there's an ecu amber warning and I don't know how to clear it.
It's connected to ecu mdec working on mtu 18v2000 and I checked the document of that ecu but I couldn't find a solution.
it alarms can 1 node lost and can 2 node lost

RE: mtu 18v2000 can 1 node lost& can 2 node lost.

MTU with DEF after treatment? I've got some 4000 series engines with after treatment and they're sensitive about the order you energize the ECU'S. SCR pumps, SCR control, pause 5 seconds, then engine ECU. The engine ECU has to see the after treatment system fully functioning when it boots up.

RE: mtu 18v2000 can 1 node lost& can 2 node lost.

My guess is that there's a CAN node mismatch with the controller.

When you say controller, do you mean engine ECU, or Deep Sea device? What have you actually changed in this process?
Its possible that the ECU amber is a warning that the controller can't see the engine, hence the CAN node lost alarms and the consideration you can't clear the alarm.

I meant the deep sea it's the one that have changed
And I wanna tell you that in this ecu there are two can buses and there was another alarm code which is can error passive but I could clear it by connecting the two can buses in parallel. Is it normal this step. I mean does it affect on any thing?

RE: mtu 18v2000 can 1 node lost& can 2 node lost.

please guys what should I do to clear the alarms

RE: mtu 18v2000 can 1 node lost& can 2 node lost.

i suggest that you contact Deep Sea

RE: mtu 18v2000 can 1 node lost& can 2 node lost.

It looks like the engine is the source of the alarm. I think your MTU dealer would be the correct contact. Are the alarms also visible at the engine operator's interface?

RE: mtu 18v2000 can 1 node lost& can 2 node lost.

TugboatEng, if the only thing that has been replaced is the Deep Sea Controller, and the alarm is a CAN alarm, its likely that the alarm is due to the fact that the controller cant' see the ECU, rather than a fault with the ECU. You're correct though, if the alarms are visible at a separate operator interface then it probably is the engine.

As for the two CAN lines on the MTU ECU, from what I recall one was for an OEM diagnosis / control interface, the other one was for external equipment. Connecting the two probably isn't a good idea, as its likely that MTU kept them separate for a reason.

Hoxton's suggestion is the most appropriate, failing that I'd look at the Deep Sea documentation to find out what the alarms mean.

I don't have the software nor the interface for diagnosing the ecu. if someone knows where to get it please tell me so I can diagnose the issue.
thank you so much guys

RE: mtu 18v2000 can 1 node lost& can 2 node lost.

Seems relevant, appears there's an issue with the CAN configuration and the engine you're using. This is taken from the Deep Sea CAN configuration manual, it would appear that you'll need MTU support to adjust the CAN parameters.

(OP)
thank you Mr Nurk. do you know any technician that would provide me with these parameters.

RE: mtu 18v2000 can 1 node lost& can 2 node lost.

Where is the engine located? Country?

RE: mtu 18v2000 can 1 node lost& can 2 node lost.

(OP)
Located in Libya

RE: mtu 18v2000 can 1 node lost& can 2 node lost.

(OP)
I did contact them both each one is saying that I should call the other

RE: mtu 18v2000 can 1 node lost& can 2 node lost.

That's the trouble with using products from multiple companies. DSE, being the outside company should know both MTU and their own product. I would take DSE for their word here, they have the greater knowledge. As FreddyNurk said, it looks like you need a configuration changed on the MTU MDEC and MTU will have to do that. You can also do this yourself if you purchase the service software and connection adapter from MTU.

RE: mtu 18v2000 can 1 node lost& can 2 node lost.

(OP)
There's one more thing. in can guide file dse there's a table of ecu engine with compatible dse controller. However the 7320 is configured only with 3 versions of mdec ecu from 5 versions. And I can't know which version mdec I am dealing with.
Maybe that's the issue.
so if any could identify the version of mdec tell me so I can buy the compatible dse controller
Here some photos for the mdec and can dse guide table.

RE: mtu 18v2000 can 1 node lost& can 2 node lost.

The MTU dealer should certainly be able to answer your question about which MDEC you have based on the serial number you posted.

There is a manual available online with a "plant specific configuration". Perhaps it's worth looking at?

https://www.scribd.com/doc/54736129/MDEC-Manual

It does seem that some MTU MDEC controllers are not SAE J1939 and are read-only on the CAN so that would explain the compatibility differences.
