ETAP Governor Simulation
ETAP Governor Simulation
(OP)
Hello,
I have two machines which is 20MW each but the real power output of each generator is 16MW. I modeled the system in ETAP. During transient simulation, the generator Pm output reaches 19MW but actually the power output is 16MW maximum. How to limit the generator output to 16MW? Is there a parameter or anything to tweak?

That would be a typical rating.
You can limit the steady state power by limiting the fuel or steam feed to the prime mover.
The added power during transients is often produced by the inertia of the spinning mass of the generator and of the prime mover.
I am in agreement with David's information.
Further, in some sizes of prime power generator a 10% overload is allowed for 1 hour out of 12.
