I have posted a calculation for the molecular weight of a petroleum oil based on 2 viscosities developed in the mid 1980's that models the chart in ASTM D2502 at Link. It eliminates the tedium of reading the chart. An Excel spread sheet is available that converts the viscosity from cSt at 40C and 100C to 100F and 210F, checks and alerts if the viscosities are outside the chart area and reports the calculated MW.

The attached document was converted from Microsoft Word and only quickly reviewed for conversion errors. The Word document is available upon request.

Thread483-33838 had asked if one was available.

The Word to PDF did not render several image correctly. Here is the Word document. An Excel file is available with the calculation via email jawchemist@gmail.com
