Scrap Pusher/Robotic Arm
Scrap Pusher/Robotic Arm
(OP)
I would like to know the machines available or what machines can be created for the purpose of pushing scrap into an electric coil induction furnace. The raw material melt is majorly brass. Currently a melter employee himself pushes scrap in the furnace in order to get it melt. But we are thinking of installing a robotic arm/machine pusher in order to reduce labour workload and also improve the productivity. If anyone knows about the required product which takes less space and no special skills to operate do let me know about such products or u can also share the design details if you have any.

RE: Scrap Pusher/Robotic Arm
All the furnaces I have worked with have been loaded by hand. We had a proposal for a shaker table style loader but it's footprint was fairly large.

RE: Scrap Pusher/Robotic Arm
The size will depend on how much you are charging and how quickly.
I don't mind the hand loading of the initial charge, but once there is molten metal there should not a person doing the charging. I have seen too many accidents.

RE: Scrap Pusher/Robotic Arm
What is the size of your furnace and hope no swarfs are used as charge.
