Removing inside weld line of a pipe

Removing inside weld line of a pipe

(OP)
What is the best and fastest way to remove the inside weld line of pipes with 16mm outside diameter and 1m thickness so a piston can reciprocate easily inside it? I have two options in mind. one is to have the inside of LSAW pipes machined, which might be laborious. The other option is to cold draw ERW pipes (I think cold drawing LSAW pipes would not result in smooth and accurate enough inside surface). I'm not sure whether either of these methods works. Is there a better way to to this? The end product is 12cm Cylinders which will be produced at least 1000 in quantity per day.

Deep draw them from flat sheet and then trim to length.

RE: Removing inside weld line of a pipe

Use a pipe without weld lines.

Pistons in cylinders usually require a machined and honed surface.

We made a lot of welded and cold drawn air cylinder material. It has to be plug drawn, you can't draw into a bar.
You do have be careful because there is a needed surface finish. Too smooth and seals stick, too rough and you leakage and wear.
The nice thing about cold drawing is that in the as-drawn condition the surface is harder (more wear resistant) and if done properly the ID will be very round.
If the drawn surface isn't quite right you can add a very light hone pass to give the desired texture.

RE: Removing inside weld line of a pipe

what is the length required?
and what is the hardness and material of the cylinder?
what is the tolerance required, O.D & I.D ?
what the surface finish required?
