Hellow engineers, i'm trying to model a two-story load bearing building using CSI ETABS, Solid slabs rests directly on masonary walls. To my understanding that beams are are rigidly connected to the slab. The masonary wall however should not be connected rigidly to the beam, as they are not able to transfer moment effectively. Is this right? and how do i model this. (The slab beams rests directly on the wall but not rigidly connected to it)

Are the masonry walls being used as part of the lateral system? Limiting the moment transfer into the masonry can be done by stiffness modifiers, M11, M22 & M12 = 0.1 to 0.2. Need to be careful when put large out of plane modifiers into the walls, if you reduce the stiffness too much may start to give the walls some instabilities.
