I am fairly new to laser cutting and feel I have done fairly well adapting to a new machine. Previously ran 2.5 and 5 axis cnc mills.

However, I have a potential customer that is adament about dross-free aluminium.

3/16" Aluminium
1mm Single tip
1 in/s cut speed
300-350 psi N2
-0.188" focus

I get very consistant, minimal, dross but would like to try and get it down to nothing.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

only way i cut alluminum dross free is if it has plastic film on the bottom side. i know it seems strange anything with plastic on bottom has a large burr but not alluminum

Thats what I've found too. Been cutting some 0.04" and 0.05" sheets that have plastic and they turn out pretty good. Just the occasional section where there was a tooth under the cut or if the edge flexes away from the gas preassure.

Hey drossfree. do you have any experience settingu piercing on aluminium? my parameters work but arent very nice and my laser "stalls" sometimes on the mound at the pierce.

if your having trouble piercing aluminum try using shop air or oxygen to pierce low pressure of course

Hello guys, we've been experimenting today and found out that big role has the pressure of N2. Best results with 20 Bars.
