ETABS v18 has now been released. CSI Website

Finally we have interactive database editing for ETABS, hopefully we can do away with editing text files now...

It seems like everything should be sped up as well.

v18 Release Notes

Interesting that they use a graphic showing FEA mesh with a very high aspect ratio...

Reminds me of this gem...

I really dislike how they removed Tables from the model explorer. Now there is a separate "show tables" dialog, but you can't quickly sort the columns or filter by clicking on the headers.

Also, the number of columns in the output tables change depending on the type of load cases included. Now all my post processing scripts need to be rejigged [thumbsdown].

But perhaps its time to bite the bullet and access the data directly through the new API.

Hi Trenno,
if you want to know which software they copied when they released the firt "new era" ETABS v13, check Midas Gen.
I used it back in 2008 and was the best FEA software I ever seen. They had the tree menu that ETABS introduced.
Unfortunately it does not have the AS implemented, I already spoke to their Asian/Pacific representative.
Cheers
Davide

So if I understand correctly, we cannot edit joint coordinate using table anymore ?

What a mess !

I considered UBC in Etabs (older version) and suddenly in new version the code is removed from the list. What can be done in this regard?
