Hello all,
Appreciate your advise on avoiding air intake contamination from a nearby cooling tower exhaust. The intake , combined with exhaust, air louver for a building mechanical room is located within 10 m of the cooling tower exhaust (located on the roof). What would be your recommendation to best achieve the a higher separating distance (>10 m) between the two? If blocking part of the intake/exhaust louver : the air velocity would increase causing water penetration during wet weather conditions ; and if building a baffle around the cooling tower exhaust less heat transfer and hence less tower efficiency ? Please let me know you thoughtsponder

Not knowing all the features of the structures surrounding your office building and that of the cooling tower and the directions of the prevailing winds, I would explore increasing the inlet air duct to a different direction. Note that the exhaust from the cooling tower is primarily water vapor and air, so may be a dehumidifying system needs to be incorporated into the air intake of your building.
