Good morning sirs,
for some FEM calculations i would need an estimation of force during this king of machining. Asking grinding wheel agents it seems very difficult to obtain.
I know it'f function of speed, feed, material, ecc... but it's not easy because certain grains are cutting, others are plowing and others rubbing.
Just having an estimate of volumetric energy would be great.

1. Specify the length of the cylinder being ground.
Then tell us: The material and shape: Dia, wall thickness (it is hollow, in't it?) because a solid rod being ground - unless it is very long and thin, will not substantially deflect.
The expected grinding tool and surface area and abrasive and abrasive mount: A band of embedded grit? A rotating solid disk? And point force like a grinding table? A rotating grinding disk on a table or moving mount that is guided against the cylinder?

2. After we know something, we will figure out how to answer the question.

I know:
- wheel: Ø 630 mm rotating at 1200-1500 rpm, 50 mm thick
- Diamond wheel working on granite planes, tangentially
