We are designing a culvert extension across an existing roadway to which we are adding lanes. The channel is dry except during rain events, and several hundred cfs can be in the channel during larger storm events. What is the best way to control erosion during construction of the culvert extensions?

We cannot divert the storm water around the channel anywhere. The upstream channel is fairly stable, so we don't anticipate a heavy sediment load from that, but just in case we are placing rock rubble on the upstream side of the existing culvert, and the same on the downstream end of the proposed culvert apron.

Any advice is appreciated.
