distilation range of cat reformer feed
distilation range of cat reformer feed
(OP)
what is the best distilation range of a cat reformer unit feed with respect to ; increasing octane , increasing conversion , prevention of catalyst deactivation etc,

else keep 5/95% at 90/140°C, for gasoline refinery.

Some experts speak of initial boiling points (IBP) say 95 Celsius, and final boiling points (FBP), say 175 to 190 Celsius.
IBP lower than 75 Celsius indicate the presence of C5's, a fraction not amenable to reforming. As for FBP, 175 Celsius is indicated to reduce coke deposition on catalyst since this increases with an increase in the endpoint of feedstocks.
Besides, since the product's FBP rises -normally- by about 15 Celsius above that of the feed, a limited feed endpoint may be indicated to avoid ulterior redistillation of the gasoline to meet specs.
Metal catalyst poisons such as As, Pb and Cu are mostly removed if a prior desulphurizing step is implemented.
Reformate yield of a given octane number improves with the naphthenicity of the feedstock; hydrocracker naphthas are particularly good for this reason. So is a straight-run naphtha from Forcados (Nigeria) when compared with a Kuwait fraction of the same 95-175 Celsius boiling range. Gasoline yields naturally drop with higher octane numbers. A higher content of naphthene hydrocarbons improves octane numbers for the same yields.
All comparisons above refer to equal operating conditions.
