MDE and LOS MDE and LOS killswitchengage (Geotechnical) (OP) 10 Jan 18 21:10 Hi Should Micro Deval and Los Angeles tests results must be close to each other to be valid or not ? RE: MDE and LOS cvg (Civil/Environmental) 17 Jan 18 19:17 the results will not be close to each other. if it passes MDE (which is conservative) than why bother with another test? if you are going to run a secondary test, than it might be better to do a mag. sulfate test instead of LA Abrasion. See table 4 and conclusions of the referenced paper http://docs.trb.org/prp/08-2729.pdf https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/7f28/9b51e019d3c3... RE: MDE and LOS killswitchengage (Geotechnical) (OP) 18 Jan 18 16:42 Very much appreciated , you see we are used to getting very close results between LA and MDE and we conduct them both for every aggregate used for concrete and pavements its systematic. Sure LA suffice in its own especially for concrete design , but this is the way we do it .
