Tie between different bus bar ratings

Tie between different bus bar ratings

Tie between different bus bar ratings

Dear Colleagues,

kindly check the attachment first.
My client has an exciting bus bar system 2500A with 3 gen sets ( can be synchronised ). he wants to make an extension bus bar system 5000A with 2 higher gen sets than the others ( also can be synchronised with each other and the old ) & wants to tie between the old & new system by circuit breakers as attached.

if an old gen set is operated with the circuit breaker from new system, it will carry current than its rating.

so, what are the precautions and regulation to be considered before implementing this system?
All bus bars 400V.

Keep Moving Forward ;)

RE: Tie between different bus bar ratings

With no indication of loads, either in placement or magnitude, it is impossible to know how much current would flow through any location.

RE: Tie between different bus bar ratings

The loads for each section in the old system is 600KW.
The old gen sets is 875KVA.
The new gen sets is 1.3 MW.

Keep Moving Forward ;)

RE: Tie between different bus bar ratings

What do you mean by "each section"? What is the load power factor? You need to work out how many load amps can flow through each section and compare that to the bus and switch ratings. If the ratings are OK, then you need to decide how to limit the loads in the future. It would appear that more loads are anticipated, otherwise, why add 1.3 MW (times 2?) more generation.

Wow, this asks for a lot of analysis for a site that is dedicated to short and sweet answers.
