WPS and PQR for PWHT and Non PWHT

Dear Experts,

Our tanks are designed by A516-Gr. 70(N) material for the first shell course only. The thickness of the shell plate on this course is 13 mm.

The annular plates are same material A516-Gr. 70(N) and thickness is 10 mm.

The rest of the shell courses are A283C material. The thicknesses of these shell courses are 10.5 mm, 9 mm, 8 mm and 6 mm.

We have clean out door on the first shell course and as required by API 650 this clean our door will be attached to the shell plate and this assembly shall be PWHT before erection.

This COD will have 25 mm base plate.

Can I state in WPS on PWHT box : Temperature range : 600C to 650C - ONLY FOR SHELL WITH CLEAN OUT DOOR ASSEMBLY.

But I will make 2 PQRs coupons i.e. 1 coupon without PWHT and another coupon for PWHT.

If this allowed I do not need to make 2 WPS i.e. WPS for without PWHT and WPS with PWHT.

Your response in highly appreciated.

Syah

Sorry, I miss to state that WPS shall be per ASME Section IX.

You may have a single WPS, with two PQRs, one with PWHT and one without PWHT. This is acceptable per ASME Section IX.
