Hello,

I'm looking for rechargeable batteries for 4x 5V motors of nominal current draw 1.2A and peak current up to 3A to power my robot.
I'm wondering about 2x3.7V Li-Ion 6800mAh, 5x1.2V 3000mAh NiHM batteries or 2x polymer 6000mAh batteries.
What is you opinion?

Each.

Your draw is 0.8C, which is high for most batteries, which like to be drawn at 0.1 or 0.2C, i.e., no more than 0.6 or 1.2A total. Batteries specifically intended for RC applications would be better, since they're designed for lower series resistance and high current draws.

Although I am a part-time student, this is my hobby.
I work as PCB designer at AWOS company.

1C means a battery is fully charged/discharged in one hour. The C is a constant indicating the current needed to charge the battery in one hour. 0.5C means charged in 2 hours, 2C means half an hour.
